Brexit

Brexit and Prices:

As far as we are aware, this is how the pricing when purchasing from the EU works:

  • Goods and delivery charges are sold without VAT.
  • If the goods are going by courier, VAT (at the rate of the delivery country) will be collected by the courier company (prior to delivery) for the cost of the goods and the delivery cost.
  • Tariffs for the goods (typically 5%) will only be charged on orders (including the carriage cost) of over £135 or €150 and on goods that have not originated from the UK or the EU.
  • A Courier administration fee of €5 is charged by DPD per consignment.
  • If the order is going by post, we think that delivery will just be made without the post office collecting any additional fees*

So, as an example: If you buy €50 of cable and we charge €10 for delivery by courier, the cost of the order from AES would be €60. Prior to delivery, DPD should charge €12 for VAT and €5 administration fee.

*The above is our interpretation of the new rules after speaking to the courier companies and looking on the UK Government website!
